Got this e-mail through from Brian 'Charlie' Staples, forwarding on an e-mail sent to 'Dimples' Sheargold from Phil Croese... :evil3:

Brian

Subject: Sad news re Greg Glock

G'day Dimples,

Not long off the phone from Greg's partner, Jen; the big fella passed away last night in hospital where he'd been for the last 2-3 days. As you probably know, Greg wasn't a shrinking violet and gave it his best shot but was up against the worst odds.

The funeral will probably be this coming Friday, maybe next Monday depending on availability; I'll let you know.

This e-mail is very impersonal but I don't mean it to be that way. Could you please pass to dusties and tiffies on your list, thanks.

Take care,

Phil

Rest on your oars Possum, you've done your bit... [-o<

What sad news. Another true gentleman gone well before the due expiry date. I served with Glocki on Hobart "The Grey Ghost" and remember many good times ashore , on the rugby field and a hard worker oboard . Harry Pearson had been to see him a short time ago and he was keeping a brave face as always. He knew time was near and this was his last deal of the cards. No pain now and hope the party is good up there. You will soon be the life of it.
My condolances to Glocki's family.

Another great bloke on and off the rugby field taken far too early. Farewell shipmate and may you always have fair winds and favourable seas.

Sincerest condolences to Jen and all his family.

Terrible news. Most has been said here - he was a great shipmate and friend.

I first encountered Possum on the rugby field at Nirimba and with him bearing down on me I all but gave him the ball!

Along with Seejay I have many, many fond memories of Possum from when we did the Advanced Welding course together. I still laugh when I recall his antics. It was never a dull moment.

One of God's gentlemen, and he has been called home to play in for God's First XV.

Farewell old chum, you will be sorely missed..................
