I received the following sad e-mail, forwarded on from Peter Maher, earlier this afternoon... :evil3:

From: Mal and Jan Creagh
Sent: Friday, 10 July 2009 3:52 PM
To: Peter Maher
Subject: Ray Maskell

Good Afternoon Peter

The bearer of very sad news I'm afraid.

My very good friend Raymond (Ray) Maskell Ex-CPOETP4, R/42455 passed away in
Prince Charles Hospital at 1115 Hrs. today after a long struggle with cancer.

Would you please pass this information on to the Greenies web site

Kindest Regards

Mal Creagh

:evil3: As I don't have any recent photos of Ray Maskell for you, unfortunately,
below is the 1965 NAVY News extract covering Ray's 10th MOBI Intake's
Passing Out Parade
held on 16th Dec. '64.

Image
Click on the :type: NAVY News for a BLOW  UP..!

Ray joined RANATE in January 1961 as part of the 10th MOBI Intake and
became an Ordnance Artificer Apprentice, winning the prestigious Govenor
Generals Award
on graduating four years later... Ray was 18 months ahead
of Ned and I at RANATE, he was well respected and will be sadly missed... [-o<

Image

Ray had been a Member of RAN Skilled Hands since 16th March 2008, but
had only posted twice, ironically, both occasions, to pass his condolences on
to the families of recently departed fellow MOBIs :type: Robert J. Moule and
:type: Bob Reeves...

I requested a photo of Ray and received the following from Ray's classmate,
Mal Creagh...
:evil3:

Hi Rick
Attached is a foto of Ray Maskell (on right) with Stu Rawlinson in the centre
and Mick Fish on the left.

It was taken on the 20/03/09 at our last term reunion at Caloundra.

Rick I know @#$% all about croping/cutting/pasting/sliding/sliping /jumping
or anything else that ends in "ing", so if you guys can extract Ray's foto from
the attachment and it comes up good then I guess you can use it .

Kind Regards
Mal

Thanks Mal... :thumbright:

Aaaaah shit, fellas.
This is so sad. Guys going too early
Look at the names on the Navy News extract....so many familiar names....some gone......Dobie Gillis..I was with him in Kings X in his brand new Monaro when he binged it in the back streets.
Any get together you can get to....do it!!!! Whether we admit it or not.....time is running out.
