It was sad to read this morning that Tom Fleming had passed away overnight. We tried hard to locate Tom for our 50th reunion cruise last year but he eluded us. It was almost by accident that we managed to locate him.

We found him within the last 3 months, Tom was living in a Nursing Home in Bowen and not travelling too well. Three of our members went to visit him and by all reports it lifted his spirits. We sent him one of our caps and "stuff".

Tom will always be remembered as a trumpet player extradonaire performing many times in the Mobi concerts at HMAS Nirimba. His signature tune was il Solensio and he played it well. Tom was a member of the Apprentices band in his time at Nirimba.

It was good to hear that his brother and his son were able to visit him in his last hours. His son, Daniel, arrived a mater of a couple of hours before he crossed the bar.

Tom was suffering from Lung Cancer which had robbed him of any independence. His pain and suffering are no more

RIP Tom Fleming.

The funeral of the late Tom Fleming was held in Proserpine, Qld, today. 3 of his term mates attended. Ron Whalan and Vaughn Thompson went from Townsville and Doug Curtis went from Bundaberg.
Vaughn arranged for a bugler and flowers were provided by the 23rd intake "slush" fund.
BZ guys. Thanks for the effort to attend.
