A story about Jak and his Datsuns....

As an aside, Jak was in the Chippies Workshop at Nirimba when I started there as a civvy instructor. Along with Harry Harman and Brian McKenzie. Jak left the shop not long afterwards and moved over to Training Development at Nirimba.

I bought a Datsun 1200 Coupe from Jak, a great car but a tad 'repaired' in the body. Jak's wife had named it Rodney :lol1: , and it was painted Telecom orange.

After I repaired the body I resprayed it the same orange, and added white panels. When I rolled it out of the spray booth .. er.. *cough* .. fibreglass trimming booth ... , there it sat in the sunshine and it looked all the world like a bloody can of Fanta!! :swear1: :banghead:

So, from that day forth it became known as The Flying Fanta Can! Thanks to Jak, it went as well as it looked!

Farewell Jak. I served with Jak a few times, can't remember exactly where, definitely on the Sydney and Stalwart. My long term memory is not as sharp as Seejay's.

Fair winds and smooth seas matey.
