This sad news is circulating and some of you may have served with Chris.

Chris was an SAC/ETC and was a member of the 10th Intake (Jan 61).

His Vietnam service included:

2 x Vung Tau Trips in HMAS Melbourne in 66.

1 x Vung Tau Trip in HMAS Vendetta in 70.

Condolences to his family and shipmates.

Vale Chris :salute1:

Just received from Fred House. Sad news, particularly for the Hawley family and for the MOBIs of Chris’s era.

Hi Bob
More sad news, another MOBI has Crossed the Bar. Christopher James Hawley R42446 10th intake passed peacefully away yesterday on his 77th Birthday. Chris had a stroke last week and was recovering in Tamworth Hospital. He had two more infarcts and succumbed yesterday morning with family members at his bedside.

You may remember last year Chris attended one of our YOMM lunches, he was in the West to be with his Grandaughter who was terminally ill.

I will let you know when funeral arrangements have been organised.

Rest In Peace Mobi Brother Chris.

Fred

David House

Sad news, I knew Chris for a short time many years ago and through the fog of those years remember him as a very nice guy.
Rest on your oars Chris, your journey is done, may you have fair winds and following seas RIP.
