Another email notification :evil3: of yet another MOBI crossing the bar... [-o<

Subject: VALE - FORMER NAVAL APPRENTICE A (Tony) S DRAY - MOBI of JULY 1963 INTAKE

It is with regret that I onforward advice from Len Mumme detailed below.

Tony Dray Senior Sailor (Chief ET?) at NAVCOMSTA HAROLD E HOLT when I was also there in the period 1975-76. Tony was a quiet individual, well regarded for his technical expertise and a great supporter of the two Navy integration as HAROLD E HOLT transitioned from a US Navy Base to a joint USN / RAN facility. During his time in Exmouth he lived in the street behind my house and we saw each other regularly. Many years later, around 2021, we discovered that we both lived in the Safety Bay area and were regular walkers which caused us to meet on the beach front from time to time. I was unaware that Tony was ill and it was quite a shock to receive Len Mumme's email advising that Tony had passed away.

The medallion that Len is referring to is the Navy Bereavement Pin. It can be made available for immediate families of deceased members, full details available via the link Bereavement support | Royal Australian Navy

RIP Tony

Subject: Medallion for Passed Serviceman's Family
To: Bob Mummery <mobi_rbm@mobibob.online>

Hi Bob,
Tony Dray from my intake passed away 3 weeks ago but was only cremated last Friday - the family have not yet been informed on his cause of death.
I would like to attain the medallion for the family so I can you pass on to them. Who do I contact in Canberra to request a medallion so I can pass it on to the family?
Thank you for your assistance.
Regards, Len

Rest on your oars, Tony, :notworthy: your journey's done... VALE - May you rest in peace... [-o<

Never served with Tony other than Bonehead College where I didn't know him well but recall him as a quiet easygoing affable lad. Condolences to his family.

Another brother taken too soon. RIP Tony, fair winds and following seas.

Anthony Stephen DRAY, R42748 ex-CPOETC

Vietnam service consisted of:

4 x Vung Tau trips in HMAS Sydney in 1971/72.

Although I serviced with Tony during that time, I never had any dealings with Tony. My condolences to his family and friends.

RIP Tony
