Dear All, Please see Fred House's email below. It is sad news for many as Pat was a very popular and professional MOBI. He will be missed by many. Pat was a good friend and we have been in reasonably regular contact for a long time. I was aware that he was not travelling all that well but he had not disclosed the nature of his illness - true of Pat, not to worry his mates with his troubles but always willing to help and advise others despite his own. A great guy. RIP Pat Bob Mummery Dear Mobi Brothers, Sorry to inform all that Patrick James Gordon R42444, passed away late last night in Northern Districts Hospital. Pat’s Daughter, Kylie let me know by text this morning. Pat had been very ill with infected Pancreas since mid August and had been in intensive care for 3 weeks. He was not expected to survive, he asked me not to make his illness public. Kylie looked after him when first discharged, but he has had two other stints in Hospital since. Kylie thinks his Heart gave out but an autopsy will reveal the cause of his Death. Pat did not want any fuss for a Funeral but Kylie will organize some sort of “Piss Up” (her words} later on. Rest In Peace Dear Pat Fred RIP Pat, Fair winds and following seas.

Wow, this came out of the blue! Pat was the senior apprentice in our hut in 2nd Term. Fond memories, he was really easy going and was more like a term mate than a senior apprentice! A really nice guy. Never had any contact after he passed out and often wondered what happened to him, until his name cropped up in some of Bob Mummery's postings/emails. From what Bob has said over the past few years when ever he mentioned Pat it seems his good nature and attitude followed his every where.
Someone I am proud to say I knew, even if it was only for an instant in time!
Very sad! Vale Pat, RIP, may you have fair winds and following seas. Condolences to his family

As others have mentioned, I remember Pat as an amiable, pleasant guy, not like some Senior Apprentices at all, just three terms above Ned and I... Rest on your oars, Patrick James Gordon, your journey's done... VALE R.I.P.
