Vale

Lindsay Warren Edgerton, CPOSV, R63958, passed away suddenly 11/4/11, our thoughts are with Lindsay`s family at this time. No phone calls to the home please. Funeral details will be posted when known.

I knew Lindsay as the POSV on HOBART in the late 70's. A real decent bloke who - like so many of us - was not backward in coming forward with an opinion.

This was demonstrated quite graphically when 300 of HOBART's crew led the ANZAC Day parade through Brisbane in either 78 or 79. A bunch of feral-looking females dressed in black 'Charlie' pyjamas were demonstrating about women raped during war. We assumed it was the Vietnam War.

As the band started playing one ugly crone jumped towards Lindsay and yelled "How many women did you rape in the war??!!"

Instantly, Lindsay replied "F**K! You're safe!!"

And the crowd nearby erupted in applause while the feral just sorta wilted and slunk away.

Vale Lindsay, thanks for one of the memorable moment, and may you have fair skies and a following sea on your journey.

Kevin Fanker was the DMEO on Perth when I was there in 1971/72. Robbie Robinson was the MEO at the time.
The chippies on Perth at that time were Peter Corran, Terry James, Graham Norton and Myself.

I think Kevin was the MEO on Stuart later at Dog town in 1976/76 not sure about that though.
As has already been saidKevin was quiet unassuming and very thorough from my dealings on the Perth
smooth seas

Yes I remember him as well Bob, it seems we see a lot of guys names that we knew, passing over the bar nowadays.

I guess we are getting a bit older than we think.

Fair seas Keith.

You are right Ned, it's happening far too frequently and in the most part they are going much too young. I attended Jamo's funeral up at Gympie but not many of his Navy friends in attendance, very sad.

Bob

In respect to all our mates who have passed over the bar way too young.

Maybe they were the good guys and we are the bad guys.

You know the old saying only the good die young.

But I agree way too many are going way too early for what they gave to their country

Kevin Fanker was the Divisional Office when I was at Nirimba and then he was the MEO on Stuart. I actually like Kevin and got to know him well as he had the mis forturn be with me at court. Most he would talk about in the car to court was how his wife had to wash and iron his white uniform, due to having to go to court, he would then look at me and say, "its your fault".

Nice man too young to go, vale Kev.
