=; Didn't know much about Tug, other than the fact that he'd posted on RAN Skilled Hands a total of eight times over the past six years and he came from Rockingham in WA and if I remember rightly, attended the Innaugural RAN Skilled Hands WA Smokey... Think he was a mate of Gary 'Loose-Lips' Lucev... :-k

True Ned

Old Warrant Officer (Navy) was how he described it
Of course on here, no need for (Navy)
Will certainly miss him. We were at "L" School at the same time in '58

Tug was a legend in the L branch during his time in the RAN. His close association with Bill Crossley (later Admiral Crossley) advanced L branch representation during the pay disputes of the early 70's. When the WO rank was introduced I think Tug was one of the first to obtain that rank. I drafted onto Melbourne in June 71 and Tug was the L Reg Chief. His attitute and charisma helped in making a couple on years on Melbourne more bearable. I left Melbourne in 73 and didn't run into Tug again until I returned to the West in 2001 and caught up at the WA Skilled Hands get together in 2005. I was amazed at how much he remembered about our time on the carrier, but looking back he was an amiable guy who took a lot of personal interest in those with whom he served.

I am saddened by his passing, but happy that I had served with him.

RIP old mate.

I ran into Tug at a Greenies Reunion at Rockingham RSL, and again at the inaugural Skilled Hands smokey. Whilst we have not served together, we shared many mutual friends and acquaintances.
He was a lovely bloke, and had serious health issues in the time I knew him. He was such an old Navy kind of guy, and a pleasure to know. I Feel poorer for his loss, but richer from having known him (albeit briefly).

My funniest recollection was Lucii laying a big lip lock on him at the RANSH smokey, in front of a slightly shocked ChrisA and Jdee.
Tug's comments after are unprintable.

Caaaaaaaaarlton has lost one of it's greatest supporters.

Farewell, old mate. Rest in Peace
