The sad part of losing a friend is the hole they leave in the lives of those they've left behind, yet if we focus on the joy they brought to those around them when they were with us,
we can celebrate a life well lived, rather than on their passing. I sympathise with your loss, Chuckles, but just remember the good times you had together... :partyman:

:salute1: Vale - Rear Admiral Neil McDonald AO, RAN ret [-o<

It is with much regret that I pass on the sad news of RADM Neil McDonald’s passing. I serves with Neil on three occasions. He was our Captain in HMAS SUPPLY and again in HMAS MELBOURNE and later as the Fleet Commander. A real professional and a real gentleman – even if he was a Collingwood supporter!

Bob Mummery

Dear NOC Members,

Relaying the sad news of the passing of Rear Admiral Neil McDonald at the Vaucluse Nursing Home on Saturday, 22nd Feb. Although not an NOC member, he was well-known and highly respected by many of us.
The funeral is expected to be held during the week commencing Mon 3rd March. Details will be advised when to hand.
For the NOC Committee,

John Hazell

Yes, I'm confused too... As the RAN was in the habit of allocating Official Numbers in alphabetical order by surnames, even allowing for a subsequent name
change by deed poll, there are no 'Franks' in the first batch of MOBIs, in fact there is only one with the first initial of 'F', namely F. J. H. Holyoak.

Not only that, but R42005 would be J. Carlin, just can't see a connection anywhere... :dontknow:

If anyone can shed any further light on this, we'll allocate a separate topic to him, in the meantime, sticking with the intention of this topic, i.e., to acknowledge
everybody else, and we've had another Admiral :salute1: pass over the bar, as reported in my post below...
