Guys,

Ross was a great buddy at Nirimba when we joined in July 67. Unfortunately when came time to choose a trade he went to the DARK side and became a Eleco. Not as bad as turning out a chippy though. We had some great times at Nirimba and I will send some photos to Rick to include in this thread.

Vale Ross, catch up with you later.

He had not enjoyed the best of health for a while.
I spoke to him about 12 months ago when Andy Hancock told me about him being unwell.

Ross originally came from Ferntree Gully here in Melbourne and we enjoyed a couple of good times at home on leave while at Nirimba and also when we were on Stuart together
He was in the EWO Dept on Stuart. I wonder if all those rads had anything to do with the tumors
RIP
Ross

I've been reminded of an e-mail I sent to Ross Turner, only a month before
he passed away, (following a tip-off from the Pussers Greenies site,) inviting
Ross to join our website...

I received the following from his widow Lorraine today... :evil3:

'Hi Rick,
Just to inform you that Ross passed away on 22/12/2010 after a long illness.
Thank you for your email. I would be happy if you would post this as I am sure
there are many old friends whom we have lost contact with over the years.
Thanks,
Lorraine Turner'

I've replied to Lorraine and sent her a :type: link to this page...

In that group photo I can add a few other names from the right front row is Chris Smith, Garth Schmidt, Steve Simpson. Neither Chris or Steve passed out from Nirimba. They were discharged with a number of others at the same time for disciplinary reasons (enuf said).

I think the guy on the left is "pixie " Smyth.

cheers
