John's name has appeared in the Last Post section of the Queensland RSL News.

I have no details other than he was a member of the Hervey Bar sub-section.

Vale John. We went head to head on a few occasions but I have always remembered you as a fair man. Rest your oars, your journey is done.

I remember John when we joined but have had no contact with him since Nirimba, as is sadly often the case.

He is the third member of my intake to cross the bar.

Taken far too young.

Rest your oars John. Fair winds and smooth seas.

i am fairly sure that I was at FMP(W) with him.

A nice guy but like a lot of other guys at the timed I can think of quite a few that you could scrub to within an inch of their lives and dress them in a new suit and within five minutes looked like thay had slept in it for weeks.

Geoff Stirling, a birdy, was another that I can think of.

Rest on your oars Simmo your hard work is done.

I shared a house with him after joining Yarra when it was in CoDock for 1/2 life refit in late '77. There was a Mech there too, whose name escapes me.
He was Chief Chippy, and my mate Mark Biro was his PO Chippy.

Farewell Simmo...
