Yes, Remember him well. He was CO for most of my time at Nirimba.

I didn't front him, but he seemed to be a reasonable skipper, however I am not sure as a lowly MOBI, we really had the objectivity to assess that!

I fronted him for my one and only charge in the RAN in 7th term for improper supervision of 1st term apprentices on an optometrist visit to Penrith. I could not see from the eye dilation drops let alone stop them from going to a pub and getting pissed. That defence failed and he lashed me up with a $50 fine and 14/30 (14 days nines and 30 days stoppage of leave - ouch!). That charge cost me a passing out parade award. Lesson learnt "big time".

Yes, I remember him well, a big man but upon reflection, a fair man. I should have went to the front of the eye test queue as a 7th termer could and should and then gone to the pub with them and made sure they did not get pissed.

So Mick,

What Capt Fisher decided, is that as a 7th termer, you went straight to the pub first. Got pissed and then went to the optometrist, could see the chart or the drunken Sprogs either!!

Capt Tom Fisher was the Training Commander at one stage, while I was at Nirimba.

Still sad hear the news

Vale Tom

He was a Commodore as GMGID when I was a PJP at the Island.

Thought he should have got the extra stripe to Real Admiral instead of Nigel Beryln.

Nice guy, probably too nice..... More practical than political.

Vale Tom, smooth seas and fair winds.
