Vale CPO Mech Charlie Francis

Dear All,

It must have been a sad but meaningful moment for Joe to have been with his father as he passed away.

As I said to Joe, his father had a firm place in my memory as a strong and purposeful man well respected among his peers and that Charlie Jnr, when he arrives, will have big boots to fill.

I will forward funeral details when known.

As you pause to reflect on Charlie I am sure he would have said, "Compliments of the Season to all."

Hi guys, just wanted to give you an update.

I took the first flight back to Sydney this morning after the doctor told me dad was 'waiting for me'. I made it to Moss Vale at 1430. Spent an hour with Dad, he squeezed my arm for the entire time. I told him we loved him, and that Charlie jnr (my fiancee Jitka is due late April - with our ANZAC centenary baby who will be 'Charlie') Will be so very proud of him. He held my arm and let go.

He really is finally at peace.

He is my superman and it's obviously a very difficult time for our family but my Mum Robyn and our family really appreciate the messages of love in the last four weeks.

We are dearly grateful to God that we had the opportunity to tell dad we love him, unlike other poor souls and family's don't have. Our prayers are certainly with the family's from Martin Place this week.

Funeral mass for dad will probably be after Christmas but I will let you know.

Yours aye,

Joe (Francis)
