We have initial reports that Jock Schofield has crossed the bar, but no details as yet.

Jock was a top bloke and I served with him, along with Bob Moult at Platypus '75 - '77 in a very happy Chippies' Shop. He was instrumental in getting me enthused enough to sign on again as my DEE date was coming due. That in itself was a success story.

Jock paid off soon after that and moved to Inverell.

Vale, Jock! Another of the good blokes gone........

Jock passed away peacefully at Inverell yesterday morning.
I had the pleasure of Jock's friendship for over 60 years from the time when the Mobi population doubled from 50 to 100 in Janurary 1957.
Together with Joe Manton I travelled up to see him 2 weeks ago.
We just chatted and reminisced old times passed and he mentioned how pleased he was to have been contacted
by many friends from his time at Nirimba.
The strength of the Nirimba Fraternity is so strong at sad times like this.
RIP Jock I will never forget you mate.

Another great bloke gone to god too early and like Chris said, we served together at "Plats" in a very happy workshop, with "Zero" Mcnaught, Russ Norrish and of course lots of submariners, good times. It was great to know you, Jock, "fair winds and a following sea". :bugger:

Whilst I don't recall ever serving with Jock, the familiarity of his name through the recollections of those who did, make me feel I had... :-k

=; Farewell Jock, rest on your oars, Matey, your journey's done... [-o<

P.S. :hi: Hi to Joe Manton, who I haven't seen since my first stint in Tarangau... :bob dark:

I have heard the name over the years but did not have the pleasure of meeting or serving with him.
Condolences to his family.
Rest now, you work here on earth is done.

Jock bestowed a title on me back in July ‘73 which I have never been able to get rid of and he did it with a twinkle in his eye and the widest grin, Captain Defacamat.

RIP Jock, all is forgiven.

Now, I wonder why that would be Mick?
