I just saw on FB that Frank Payne of the 22 (JR) Intake passed over the bar this afternoon after a fight with the dreaded Big C.
RIP Frank

Just for some clarification, Frank Payne was never part of the 22nd Intake.

The only "Payne" I could find around that time, was a P. R. Payne from the Jan 69 intake (26th).

RIP Frank :salute1:

Perhaps Mick Hamilton (coincidentally, 26th MOBI Intake,) can shed some light on Frank, Mick shows up on Frank's Facebook page as a 'Mutual Friend'

The entry in the intake roll for the Jan 1969 intake must be a typo as his actual name is Francis "Frank" Raymond Payne, originally from Broken Hill.

Rest in peace Frank. Taken way too soon. Was a pretty handy Aussie Rules player when we played in the under 17s and 19s etc for Nirimba in the early days.

You are correct Peter.

Are you booked in to come to our 50th reunion in April next?

If not, and you might consider, please get back to me: jan69mobis@gmail.com or 0400105050 and I tell you more.

I spent a year on course with Cranky Franky in the USA, shared a car, lived in the same apartment block in Concord, then worked with him in Missile Computer on Brisbane. Could be a little prickly at times but a good guy. Lost his first wife Rose to cancer also.
Worked for Workcover here in Adelaide before moving to Moonta.
His funeral will be held at Moonta RSL this Wednesday at 11am.

RIP Frank....calm winds and smooth seas.
