Subject: Funeral notice for Shipmate Robert John Hibberd

Shipmates,

It is my sad duty to inform you that our Webmaster and long serving member passed away at his home 4.00am on Tuesday 16th February 2021.

His funeral will be held on Wednesday 24th February 2021 at St Mary Magdalene Anglican Church, 299 - 311 Great Western Highway, St Marys commencing at 10.30am.

Our Welfare Officer Colin O'Flynn will carry out the Naval Tribute with full honours.

Please advise me by return email if you will be attending....

It is always sad to read of these events but it makes us (me anyway) think about our own mortality.

Sadly another member of my intake has crossed the bar.

I joined with John but sadly never had a great deal to do with him whilst at Nirimba or post Nirimba as I don't recall serving elsewhere with him and I don't recall him attending any of our reunions.

He obviously cared for the navy and did a great deal with the Nepean Blue Mountains Sub-Section of the Naval Association of Australia, and was their webmaster.
Very sad that we never caught up again.

Vale John, rest on your oars and may you have fair winds and following seas.
