It is with great sadness that I forward advice from Lois Jones on the passing of her husband Howie.
As a young MOBI Howie showed his ability to be the life of the party. He did not take the training provided all that seriously and he later confided in me that he wished he had been more diligent feeling that he had missed a good opportunity to excel however, in later life he turned a corner, studied hard and was admitted to the Bar in Queensland. That was A for effort.
Howie had many friends and acquaintances, he was a character larger than life, sometimes a little bit of a larrikin but overall a good and loyal mate. Howie will be missed by all.
Howie did Vietnam Service in HMA Ships Derwent (66) and Yarra (70 & 71)
