Sadly I advise of yet the passing of another MOBI. His service records indicate he trained as an SAA.

Ian Birch's funeral service will be held in Pinjarra and I will do my best to be there and I hope that a number of other WA MOBIs will be able to join me on that sad occasion.

RIP Ian

Hi Bob,

I’m not sure if you know that my husband Ian collapsed with a major heart attack. On Saturday 19th June, he was taken to Peel emergency who were amazing, then transferred through with lights and sirens to Fiona Stanley hospital, although in and out of consciousness he was still talking!!! Unfortunately they were not able to save him. He was asked continually if he had any pain and his answer was no, if he didn’t have diabetes he would have felt it and had warnings, the specialist told us that because of the diabetes the nerves didn’t respond. At least he wasn’t in pain, and didn’t suffer. How amazingly lucky were we to have had just over 48years of such deep abiding love and laughter, the blessing of 5 sons and our daughter in laws, with 6 icing on our cake grandchildren.
I am surrounded by my family, and upheld in love and prayer by our church family and our many friends.
It really hasn’t sunk in yet. I will miss him so much. Our son Michael and his wife live in Italy and can’t get home till 3rd July they will be in isolation for 14 days so the funeral will not be until 19th July at 10:30am at the Pinjarra Uniting Church.

Thank you,

Kerrie Birch

Ian was in my intake at Nirimba. An absolute gentleman and definitely taken too soon. Thankfully got to catch up with him and Kerrie in 2018 for a 50th reunion. Smooth seas and fair winds mate. RIP… :tear: :tear: :tear:
