PAUL ANDREW MACKAY

Born Bristol England 1942 during Luftwaffe air raid.
1953 family emigrated to Australia as 10 pound poms.
Lived at Woomera then Victor Harbor SA
Joined HMAS NIRIMBA in Jan 1959.
First sea time on old HMAS SWAN for 2 week trip to Melbourne.
HMAS MELBOURNE, was on upper deck when MELBOURNE collided with HMAS VOYAGER.
HMAS DUCHESS during Indonesian Confrontation and escort of HMAS SYDNEY to and from Vietnam.
Netherlands for training on M 44 and M22 radar and weapon control systems.
1968 CERBERUS as an instructor, after paying off continued as civilian instructor on M44 and M22.
Retired 2003. Received letter of commendation for service from Queen Elizabeth 11.

Crossed the bar 28 Aug 2023.

Was a very intelligent well liked gentleman.

Survived by Daughters Lisa and Jo and son Matthew

Another early (6th) MOBI 'Pioneer', we're losing too many of 'em lately...

I see he was a 'Greenie' (leaving RANATE after 6th Term,) otherwise normally, Paul would have been an 8th Term Senior Apprentice when Ned and I were in 1st Term, so not having
known him there, I obviously wouldn't remember him, nor do I recall meeting him out in 'The Fleet', but I'm sure he was a nice guy, 'cos he was a MOBI and will be missed...

Rest on your oars, Paul Andrew Mackay, your journey's done... VALE and Rest In Peace, Brother...
