I have just read that Geoff “Chook” Howell passed away in July from a heart attack and complications of Alzheimers disease. Condolences to his wife Dianne and his extended family. |

I knew Chook at Nirimba but not after. Still, I feel for his family though. |

I don't know a great deal about Geoff after he left Nirimba. He was a hut senior at Nirimba. That is the last dealing I had with him until trying to orgnise our 50th reunion. I managed to locate many of the term. He I found was living at Avoca Beach in NSW. He did some time at Waterhen. And after leaving the Navy I think he went into nursing. Geoff had suffered a number of problems over the years and I think he was suffering early Alzheimers at the time of our reunion although it may not have fully diagnosed at the time. Its all so sad. |

I know the Jeff "Chook" Howell in my term was a Tiffy. When I checked Geoff's service records, it noted that he went from NAA to AAA. But when I passed on the Vale message to the Birdies in my term, response were that they can't ever remembering him at Albatross!!

He was a birdie but may have change to another branch after the FAA was disbanded. |
