It has been brought to my attention that Dicky Philp has passed away.

Richard joined the RAN as a JR in July 1964. He transferred to HMAS Nirimba as part of the July 1965 Intake and trained as an ERAAD.

I never had the pleasure of serving with Richard in the fleet. My condolences go to his family and friends.

Sad news indeed.

Keith Chay sent the following to Bob Mummery (who is o/seas in NZ returning next week) to inform all.

VALE. WOMPT5 Richard Philp.

Hello Bob,
With much regret I have to pass on to you the passing of another MOBI. Richard (Dick) Craig Philp R94504 of the Jul65 Intake passed away on 19th Jan after a long illness.
Dick joined HMAS Leeuwin as a JR and spent one year there before joining Nirimba. He completed 25 years service before joining the Boeing organisation. I completed the Engineering Q course with Dick in 1982 and he continued his service mainly in the diesel and small ships world. He’s survived by his wife Diane and daughter Danielle. His funeral will be in Buderim Sunshine Coast likely Fri 31 January.
A great fellow and good mate gone.
RIP Richard Philp.

Bob, If you could circulate this news through your network it would be much appreciated.
Regards.
Keith Chay.

I had the privilege of serving with Dick at Nirimba and also in Stalwart before completing the Q Course with him in 82.
Good memories of another brother taken too soon.
Vale "Dickie", RIP fair winds and following seas, and condolences to his his family and friends.

My main contact with 'Dicky' was as his hut senior in my last term/s at Nirimba... As stated above, a good bloke, taken far too young... [-(
