I found this entry in the Last Post section of the latest Vietnam Veterans Newsletter.

I would have served with Richard on "The Ferry" during my time, but I cannot recall him in my aging memory. Other ERAs names from his term that served on The Ferry at that time I can clearly remember, Bocky, Siggy Bruhn, Johnny Cannon and Daffy Holmwood.

My condolences to his family and friends.

Richard's Vietnam Service includes:

10 x Vung Tau Trips in HMAS Sydney from 1968 - 1972.

RIP Richard rest your oars.

BC. I think it may have been Bob McNeill from memory.

Thanks Shep,

His service records show his name as Richard, no middle name and he came from Scotland. So, I've thought about other names such as Jock, Scotty, Dick, Dicky, Rick etc. Now Bob, but nothing triggers anything.

There are other ERAs that served with me on The Ferry, that have also, unfortunately, been lost to my memory over time.

And, I've just been informed by another shipmate was that he was referred as "Mac", obvious, and he was a bit like Daffy Holmwood. A bit of a larrikin.

I recall a McNeill at Nirimba, but don't recall a name other than "Mack".
From memory he was around 5'10" and had fair/sandy hair. I think he was a boiler maker welder.
Sad to lose another brother. Vale "Mack", RIP, condolences to his family and friends. Fair winds and following seas.

Whilst I don't recall him at Nirimba, its always sad to learn of the passing of another of our 'Band of Brothers'... :3some:

=; VALE: Rest on your oars, 'Mack' your journey's done... R.I.P. [-o<
