The relatives and friends of Kerry are invited to attend the Celebration of His Life commencing 1.00pm Friday 25th July 2025, at the Lake Macquarie Memorial Park, Ryhope NSW.

(Arnold) Kerry Smart joined the RANATE, HMAS NIRIMBA as a Naval Artificer Apprentice, a member of the 4th MOBI Intake in January 1958. After the completion of his 1st Term (Basic Fitting) Kerry became a Boilermaker Welder Apprentice (attached to the Naval Shipwright Trade). During his time at HMAS Nirimba Kerry excelled in sport within the mid week East Australian Area ships and establishment competition of Waterpolo. In addition he participated in Rugby Union (Eastwood Under 16 and Gordon Northern Districts Under 18 and 21) competitions. Basketball occupied his mid-week evenings during the winter at Nirimba from time to time in the Granville Parramatta Competition. Kerry was a humorous and popular member of his class of early MOBIs. After graduating he joined HMAS Yarra as a Kellick in January '62, but left the RAN early by mutual arrangement in December '62. After leaving the RAN Kerry worked locally in his trade as a Boilermaker Welder, as well as a casual in the local pub and club industry. Kerry married Vicky in '64 producing 3 daughters, Leanne, Lisa and Linda over the following 6 years. From 1975 'til accepting a redundancy package/ retirement in 1997, Kerry worked with Telecom in the totally unrelated field of fibre-optics as a design estimator, climaxing with the design and installation of the fibre-optic network in NSW between the Victorian and Queensland borders.
