It is my sad duty to notify the passing of Kerry John Lahz, Warrant Officer RAN retired. Kerry, a member of the July 1966 intake, passed away at Cairns Base Hospital on Christmas Eve. Kerry was 55. His funeral will be notified in tomorrow's Cairns Post. Rest your oars, mate. CJ |

Sad news indeed CJ, especially for the family at this time of year. It gives you a bit of a reality check when you realise how young he was. Kerry was a fairly quiet bloke but a character in his own way. FME |

Shipped with Kerry a couple of times and had more then a couple of beers with him. He was a quiet guy with a very dry sense of humour , sorry to hear of his passing. |

Kerry had a quiet but dignified sendoff this afternoon, with upwards of fifty people attending, including his son and daughter and parents. Kerry passed away due to lymphoma, along with other complications, in a very short period. Vale Kerry Lahz. CJ |

One of the most surprising parts of the eulogy was the fact that Kerry had been the recipient of a transplant some 5 years ago. I'm unaware of the nature of the transplant. Kerry had also developed a fitness regime, and was almost a daily visitor to the gym. Sad to see that after going through so much he was taken so early. CJ |

It is very sad to hear the passing of Kerry Lahz. My sincerest condolences to his wife and family. I was also in Kerry's intake of July 1966. For those who do not yet know, we said farewell to Derek (Butch) Berry yesterday. John Eriksson |
