Post subject:  Those Apprentices Deceased Whilst on Duty

I need some help with this one. Does anyone know of any MOBIs, MUPPETS or Mechanicians who have departed this grand life whilst still in the Service?
I have 4 that I currently know of and they are:

Lorrie NEESON (Jan 58 ) - Voyager
Graham NUSS (Jan 59) - Voyager
D. REID (Jul 57) - Voyager
Rodney JACKSON (Jan 67) - Kimbla

Does anyone know of any others?

Kevin,

Do you want to include those that were lost at Nirimba, if so then I can recall the following road accident victims:

Charlie TOOHEY (22nd intake)
David STEVENS (24th intake)
David HEMSLEY-HOOKER (24th intake)

There was also Michael Dernedde (Jul 68 intake) and Lou McKenna (Jan 1968 intake) who argued with a tree at high speed and lost, near Nowra shortly after leaving Nirimba.

Reg Brunton from my (July 65) intake, killed in a car accident onboard Albatross.

I also heard that one of the birdies from my term took his own life. He was a JR changeover, but for the life of me I can't remember his name - even after looking at the intake lists.

I think I recall a guy named P J Bourke from the 14th Intake being killed in a car accident while at Nirimba. Maybe someone from that intake can confirm.

There was a greenie from the January 1974 intake died at sea. I think he was serving on Vampier at the time. Someone from his intake may give better details.

Also from the July 1974 Blue?? was killed while crossing the road in SA. Cannot recall which ship he was serving on at the time.

This is not a good subject, but it does mean on Tuesday next week I will remember those two with all the other who have passed the bar, who did their time at Nirimba. Lest we forget.

Confirmed Ned. He was a Chippy, and there was a P.J. Bourke memorial trophy named after him.

There was an Apprentice killed in a train accident circa 1977, don't have a name. Only recall having a service for him on the parade ground.

As stated elsewhere on here, Peter Revell died on Cowper Wharf Road in 1974 in a M/C accident as did another Greenie from Swan (name unknown). He was somwhere about a 1969 intake.
Also Charlie Mann died on Parramatta Road (I think) in a M/C accident. I think he was a Jan 71 or so entry.
Also a couple of guys died out of the Jan 72 entry in a car accident during their time at Nirimba.

Too many, too young!
