Back home. Posted this update on facebook yesterday. Sums it up. Culture shows were fanbloodytastic!
Well, we decided that Casino-ing was not on our list for this evening, preferring to stay in the room & prepare for the return home tomorrow.
We discovered by accident (on our arrival) the best way to get from the airport into the city & our hotel. Soooo much simpler than previous visits - Skytrain to central, then a pleasant meander through several shopping malls to Queen Street mall and the Ibis Styles. Piece of cake.
So today we decided to do a quick trip back out to DFO and sample some of the shopping there, and see Granddaughter Maddison - two birds with the one trip.
Then, Qld Rail happened with track closures, buses, delays and really ignorant drivers and rude passengers and lots of ar...........s - well, you get the picture. What should have been a 40 minute trip took near 2 hours. Visit was great, shopping great,
....and we took a cab back to the city and followed by a senior's nap. Same closures in place tomorrow, so it'll be another cab.
The trip + lots of walking allowed us to see lots of the local 'humanity' though. I saw Friar Tuck (of Robin Hood fame), lots of people with gender confusion - especially the guy in the swanky business suit, heaps of makeup and 3 inch stiletto heels - some dressed as primates (could have been NSW supporters), some dressed as people from another planet, and so much more. Then there were the two young ... um .. girls in Hungry Jack's who felt they were really cats - along with furry ears and long fluffy tails stuck in really inappropriate places. They surprised Jan so much she could only stare and stutter! Me being the very model of a modern major gentleman, I had to reprimand her for her insensitivity. I feel however, that my raucus laughter may have belied my true feelings.
Quite educational to visit the big smoke from time to time to see where all of the state money has been spent on raised highways, tunnels, bridges and freeways (that aren't free).
Home, here we come!!
