CJ,
I also noted that with interest!
Once again we are sanitising history in order to not offend.
Let's get back to our Aussie culture of calling a spade a spade!

People, remember History is only someone's slant on what really happened.
Historians have a habit of not letting the truth get in the way of a good story.
Therefore the incident we are talking about, and the program was not PC sooooo to make it easy for the numb nuts out in TV land to understand the producers have changed the NVA or VC to VRF.
Wait for the professional protestor rabble Union/ Greenies, film comes out.
"How to paint Australian Soldiers" or " Splash red piant on a Australian"Hero" or maybe the Painters and Dockers favourite "Stop sending mail and ammo to our troops"
Just pick a title.
"Hey missus pour me another beer."

I watched the program on SBS last night about the Australian Army Nurses in Vietnam.
What a great bunch of girls, and even with the horrors that they saw, they still managed to see the humour in it all. Had to laugh at one girl who said that, during one of the parties they had, she had a 'terrible case of bristle rash that day!'
And the one that married an SAS soldier. She used to wake him up by prodding him with a broomstick from a safe distance!
Good one, girls!

Yes it was a very interesting show Seejay, and also to see that it affected some of the girls like it has some of our Viet Vets i.e. drink, depression, anger, etc. However, these ladies have come shining through their ordeal and have forever been honoured at the Nurses Memorial here on Anzac Parade, Canberra. It is a beautiful memorial ... very striking.
Loved the "lippy and perfume" bit as well. They always made sure that they had on some lippy and sprayed a bit of perfume on themselves, as it made the boys feel better and cheered them up no end ("you smell lovely sister"). It was also good to see that rank played no part in their lives, unless it was "required" at official functions. Otherwise, it was just a nurse/patient relationship.
They certainly saw and experienced some horrific sights, but their 12 months of service in Vietnam, has lasted them a lifetime.
You go girls!
Cheers,
Bobcat

Now here's a website that will bring back some memories...
Music of the Vietnam War Era '60s and '70s was arguably as
much a part of our memories of that period as the conflict itself...
"Welcome to the travel back in time.
Music and songs have a method of saying so much about
our times and experiences during the Vietnam Conflict.
Music and songs still exist within our hearts and minds.
Just another opportunity to honor all Veterans from all branches
of the military as well as remembrance of our POW/MIA’s. "

A top site...! Check it out...
Now THAT would make a great CD collection...

Today I made the mistake of watching an interview between Kerrie-Ann Kennelly (for our US mates, she runs a morning TV program) and Jane Fonda.
I could have snapped the bitch's scrawny turkey neck.
Here was a female who had supported the enemy, and said she did some 'silly things' in going to North Vietnam, but categorically denied the story circulating about her visit to the Hanoi Hilton - the POW torture facility/prison in Hanoi.
She then continued on to say that a lot of Vietnam Vets had not forgiven her for her 'silliness' because they had not forgiven themselves for going to the war!!!
I'd like to see the bitch locked in a large paddock with very high fences along with 3 veterans, and each of the veterans should be driving an APC.
Man, what a bitch!!

First of all I had no choice as I was Drafted.
Well I could of gone to Canada, but then I shave everyday and there is that guy looking back at me.
Them 3 veterans need a hot iron rod and make her air tight.
We use to have a training POW camp for pilots. My be we could send her to one of them for a year, manned by ex pows.
Now where did I put my meds.
