I noticed none of the Vietnamese refugees in the video had rolex watches, iphones, gold jewellery, designer clothing and shoes and rayban sunnies like today's refugees. Yes I am aware that iphones weren't around in those days but astute readers will no doubt get my drift.

As I type this, 33 Australian servicemen killed overseas, mainly in the Vietnam War are touching down at RAAF Richmond, after being repatriated (along with some dependents previously buried alongside of them,) from various Commonwealth War Cemeteries, in Malaysia... Welcome Home Boys...

Verna stood on the side of Windsor Road at Vineyard as the funeral procession went past. Many others had the same thought and it would appear that the common statement was that this action was long overdue. "Welcome home" seems to have been the most common sentiment.

I am pleased that the politicians stayed away and didn't use the procession for a TV newsclip to further their election plans. The boys coming home would have taken their presence as insults. Home finally, in Australia. Well done to those who fought for and organised this.
