Navy News - page 6:
Still a tad chuffed but saddened to see that there has been no effort to improve some of the equipment that I was responsible for (8 years later).
The breathing apparatus is OCCABA MkIV (my effort) and it was supposed to be reviewed/replaced 4 years ago. All they have done is upgraded the backpack to the current harness configuration and commenced sourcing cylinders with a life of 30 years (the former was avoided when I removed a stupid test on the backpack and reduced the fail rate from 12% per year to no fails per year) and the latter was part of a configuration upgrade that I left them with (on retiring). The stupid part is that there was supposed to be a new cylinder valve with a pressure indicator to reduce the DC Yeomans checks from 3 minutes per cylinder to 5 seconds per cylinder (weekly).
