Hey, that gun looks better than when I looked after it! Never did like fishheads' work- as long at it went bang in the right direction I was happy. We won the Otranto Shield a few times so I must have been doing something right (obviously with the help of a lot of people). I think Tafmo can take some of the credit for that too. (I can feel those pains coming on again!)

Well thanks for those kind words Crash .
Before Ned or Stretch get to say it (which means I've got about a week to respond), I must admit that with the experienced Tartar team we had on board, even I had to appear to be a reasonable Systems Chief. And of course by default, any Greenie starts off at reasonable and can only get better.

Hi there everyone, just got home from my brief sojourn in "unsunny" QLD. I was there for 6 days and had three sunny ones so I suppose that's not too bad.
One of those sunny days was by far the most memorable and emotional for me, as it was the day I dived on our magnificent lady. Firstly I would like to thank you Matt, for your friendship and extraordinary assistance in making the dive one that I will never forget. You are one of natures gentlemen and I am going to be very careful to keep you away from the bloody turkeys that hang around here. Our dinner and few convivials at the surf club on Tuesday evening was a great way to begin my holiday and I look forward to catching up with you down here around Xmas. Might even try to get Rick to migrate south for the day, to say hello.
For those of you that served on Brisbane I must tell that inside the ship is almost unrecognisable, as the guys that prepared her for a dive wreck were very carefull to provide a wreck that is extremely safe for the average diver. This of course necessitated lots of easy swim throughs, with large holes, bulkheads removed and no protrusions to snag a passing diver. One area that distressed me greatly was the Chippy shop, which was it's own designated workshop. Now it's joined to the bloody Tartar workshop as one big space, oh well I suppose some work will get done in Tartar side now.
I found the most emotional part of the dive was swimming along side the datum deck walkway, where we all spent a lot of time, either having a smoke or just looking out at the ocean. I'm not sure if I can dive any more as I am having a bit of trouble with blurred vision in my right eye after each dive lately, but if I get a clearance from the eye specialist you can rest assured the first place I will be heading is Moolooabar.
Once again Matt, thanks heaps and please send me the other pics so I can put one on the site and let these frustrated bubblies try to rip the mickey out of me.

At first glance it looked like the safety observers dome was still intact.
Then I saw the goggles on Ned's bollard.
Luv ya Neddles... really.

Ned I have sent you a PM with the pics. PM me your home address, I have a parcel to send that way. Just for those who didn't get to share the dive...YOU REALLY MISSED OUT........we descended to -27metres and lay on the sand directly below the bow staring up, we swam around the portside, then to the foredeck and across to the forward stack, descending down the funnel to the boiler room, wound our way around the forward engine room, Ned tried to fix a few things but there was a bit of condensation on everything, we meandered through various passageways, found Chippys workshop, swam under the stern to check out the rudders and finally swam along the datum deck back to our transit line, by then air was starting to become VERY VERY scarce so we ascended to the surface, Fan-bloody-tastic !

Thanks for the pics Matt. Hi everyone these pics are some of the ones Matt took on our dive, I hope you enjoy them.
The first one is checking the drafts, a ritual I performed as soon as we entered harbour.
You Tiffies will be able to relate to this one, it looked like a gearbox to Matt and I so we spent 5 minutes on it and got the bloody thing flashed up.
It's a bit hard to tell, but this is me hanging out of the Chippy shop door (which ain't there no more).
What can I say folks ... THREE BEAUTIFUL BOLLARDS ... Two with barnacles and one in pristine condition.
