The coalition had 10-11 years under Howard to do something about it and never did, kept sweeping it under the carpet, so what makes anyone think different this time. Me-thinks it is just window dressing to make them look good now, hope I am wrong.

That's true enough......but it has only been in the last two years or so when various organisations (RSL, ADFWA etc) started getting really smart and noisy in presenting the evidence and getting numbers behind us, as well as some Pollies to specifically support their endeavours.
Keep the faith!!!!!

About time to send a reminder email to one Mr Robert Oakshot MP to remind him that he raised a private members bill on this earlier in the year, so he had better support this one (and get his 3 amigos + the green ant and the Tasmanian ex-spy to support it as well).    :=D>: :=D>:

Further to the above I have emailed both Oakshot and my local labour member, Anna (I'm here to help) Burke, for their support.

Labor, Greens and Senator Xenophon Scuttle Fairer Indexation of Veterans’ Superannuation Pensions

Military superannuants have been denied fair, just and equitable indexation of their pensions following the disgraceful actions of the Labor Government, The Greens and Independent Senator Xenophon in voting against the Coalition’s Defence Force Retirement and Death Benefits Amendment (Fair Indexation) Bill 2010.

Coalition spokesman on military superannuation, Stuart Robert MP, said the veteran community had every reason to feel let down by today’s decision, particularly given the previous statements made by those claiming to support Australia’s veterans.

‘The Labor Government, The Greens, and Senator Xenophon have all previously expressed their support for the fairer indexation of military superannuation pensions but it is their actions today that speak louder than their words,’ Mr Robert said.

Mr Robert also said that the Coalition was extremely disappointed that the Senate inquiry into the Coalition’s Bill was politically hijacked by the Labor Government in order to whitewash its broken election promise to veterans.

‘Of the eight inquiries into this matter, all but two recommend changing the current indexation system for military superannuants. The two inquires that do not recommend changes were both initiated and supported by the Labor Government, despite Labor’s 2007 election promise to pursue a fairer indexation policy’ Mr Robert said.

‘The Labor Government, in particular Finance Minster Wong, deliberately misrepresented costings and ran a scare campaign against the Coalition’s Bill rather than focussing on the welfare of veterans or developing their own policy.’

Shadow Minister for Veterans’ Affairs, Senator the Hon. Michael Ronaldson, said the Labor Government, The Greens and Senator Xenophon had to explain why they have deserted 57,000 DFRDB and DFRB members.

‘The Labor Government, The Greens and Senator Xenophon have failed to appreciate the unique nature of military service. They have failed to act in the best interests of veterans who will be left to battle rising living costs with a military pension that fails to keep pace with the cost of living,’ Senator Ronaldson said.

‘Instead of supporting our veterans with their cost of living pressures, Labor today announced a $12 million publiclyâ€

I cant beleive this shit, I know I'm preaching to the converted on the most part in this website and I make no excuses for those of you that vote for these Labour and Green pricks when I say you are not only misguided, but stupid.

The extra money that fair indexation would bring won't be a huge factor in my life, but for heaps of ex service people it would make a huge difference.

Not to worry, the scum bags in parliment will get their life time pensions with high indexation after 7 fuc*ing years in the job without ducking any bullets or doing any watches.

Bring on the assassination squads for Labour, Green and Independent polititions. :rocket:

The Government has a process in place for politicians to witness the workings of members within Defence. How about placing those turds on the frontline for a week - make a bet that they would have an epithany and change their minds - especially if suggested that their stay would be extended.

You don't think that if there was a fairer indexation system in place that the retention and enlistment numbers might increase?
Just a thought
