Hi All. Sandy HiRob July '61 intake. Just a quick word to get the word around that I have finally had a website created, only a few months short of my 80th birthday. Sounds typical for a MOBI. The website is called: http://www.sandysworld.com.au and has available Books (created by me), Posters (created by me), Illustrations and Cartoons (created by me) and other stuff (all created by me). Everything is, I'm afraid, written totally politically incorrectly and with no thought of wokeness. (This explains why I was banned by Admiral Hudson from Navy News many years ago). Jump into the website, the stories should be easy enough to follow if you're a MOBI, but a little bit of thought required if you are a MUPPET. All good fun. With a sense of humour honed by growing up in Nirimba and 13 years in submarines, not much is sacred. Come, read and maybe , laugh a little.

Hi Sandy, :welcome: back to our humble RAN Skilled Hands forum website, which (in 6 days time,) back on the 3rd of Nov., 2003, will mark 21 years since two Chippies of the 13th MOBI Intake
(of July '62,) realised a long held vision to create this unique on-line forum for ALL ex-Naval Artificer Apprentices, (MOBI's, Muppets,) Phasies, Mechanicians, Direct Entry Tradespeople, etc.,
along with all the Support Staff, Instructors, Officers, Ship's Company and 'Friends'.

In fact its where anyone who ever 'did time' at HMAS Nirimba, better known to us as R.A.N.A.T.E., from its creation in 1956, until its demise following the graduation of the last intake in Nov., '93,
could gather to renew old acquaintances, create new ones, swap 'warries', reminisce, plan reunions, keep informed and generally enjoy the comradeship/ sense of community that was truly
unique amongst the skilled :violent1: hands of the :salute1: ROYAL AUSTRALIAN NAVY...

A deeper dive :diver: into the many Forums, Topics and Posts herein, :hi: will no doubt assure you that your website, (albeit somewhat commercial compared to ours,) will find common ground with
the sort of political incorrectness and often irreverent reference to Naval life :b toss: you've promised we'll find in yours... so I look forward to exploring :type: Sandy's World in detail... :yess:

Gday Sandy, and welcome home!

Yeah, I remember your renditions of the Melbourne's anti-submarine patrol after the Trackers were torched.

(two blokes sitting in a hang glider, one with the A/S torpedo between his knees and all hooked up to a towline on Melbourne's flight deck). :happy2: :happy2: :happy2: :happy2: :happy2: :happy2: :happy2: :happy2:

No wonder mudguards banned you!

And yes, I was at Plats at the time  . Still have the cartoons you did for me & my son years ago, still enjoy them daily. :ok:

G'day Sandy, great to see you are alive and kicking and still creating great fun and reminding us of days of yore at the old alma mater, as a little aside I am domiciled in Blackbutt Qld, where I've made the acquaintance of your relo, Nick, who I came across at the local monthly market, he too has an artistic talent with his pottery.
I'll certainly log on to your website for a bit of a gander, keep well and stay safe.
Cheers from a retired 13th intake " Chippy" but never a retired "MOBI". :kenoath:

This quote  is from BC's post in the Daily News topic... :evil3:

=; After perusing the contents of 'Sandy's World', :laughing3: BC, I noticed Sandy's also offering a caricature service, :omg1: which started me thinking... :-k

My good buddy, 13th MOBI Intake Greenie, Pete Williamson, who lives across the lake in Budgewoi (about 10 mins drive from me in Lake Munmorah,)
and I share a "Grumpy Old Men" type relationship, based on trying to outdo each other in the 'know it all' stakes... :happy1: I usually end up on top..! \:D/

I found a T Shirt online with a great slogan which I felt accurately summed up our interactions, only problem is the largest available size in the T shirt
bearing the slogan I desperately wanted, would barely fit a starving 15 y/o Afghan :thblack: refugee, so I decided to get one printed locally myself...

Then, would you believe it, Sandy posted :type: on the site... my brain went into overdrive... :yess: Now I already knew Sandy only did B'n'W ' toons,
but managed to persuade him to have a go at colour anyway...

As luck would have it, I happened to find a couple of pics which I gave Sandy, taken at our :ouzo: Final Rocks Run :partyman: that Pete also attended...

Image.Image

...and with a bit of to and fro, cajoling our 'Master Cartoonist' to have a go at colouring in his caricatures, within 24 hours Sandy came up with this...

Image

...to which I then added full (solid) colour to both of the images, a few freckles to Pete's face, a couple of 'voice balloons' bearing the sought after text,
then overlaying everything over a 'sage' background, matching the colour of the T shirt I bought and voila, :notworthy: a stunning Sandy/ Hi Rob original..! :=D>:

So why go to all this trouble you might ask..?
:dontknow: Well, on the 24th November six 13th Intake MOBIs with wives/ partners, 12 all up, are catching
up for a Hawkesbury luncheon cruise, and everybody knows everybody very well, particularly the 'argy-bargy' that Pete and I'd get into... :argue:
...so proudly sporting my stunning Sandy/ Hi Rob original, \:D/ it's gonna be :happy1: 'chalk another one up' :evil3: for Tricky :=D>: Ricky..! :figjam: :yess: :woohoo:
