Buck,

Stew has only completed week 1 of his 3 week course _ I think the exam this morning was "Care, Maintenance and Operation of Pencil Sharpeners" or some such. He was the Dux of Writers 1/69 so he should do OK. And he has three weeks to toughen up his entrails on pussers cooking before spending Christmas at sea somewhere up north.

That should put him in good stead for the 'Route Proving Run' in February/March.

I emailed the mud map in word form to Rick last night and look forward to seeing what he comes up with.

Ouch! That's a cruel way to refurbish a MK I Carbon Fibre Word Processor.

I believe week two of the COSEC Course involves Auxillially Machinery Operator Certification (AMOC) on coffee pots and bar fridges so it should not be too stressful. During this phase of the course the good Chief Writer will also be 'officially' introduced to the MK II Word Processor aka the Biro (Stew is what is known in the WTR fraternity as a Quill and this is newish technology to him). After that - Begorrah - the Electronic Media!

I await, patiently, your magnificent artistic rendering of our wanderings last Saturday and hope that the way in which I conveyed the information to you realises an accurate outcome - unlike some previous maps.

Only the latest and the greatest technology and tools in our new Missile-Age Navy Buck. I believe they now have the Mk I Mod I Carbon Fibre Word Processor Combo which is a Mk I coupled up with a stern mounted, rearward facing Mk-1 Mod-0 Graphite removal Tool but I think instruction on this weapon requires extra tuition in the Dogs such is the intensity of the course.

Having known Stew for almost four decades I know he will not allow this to impinge on the other more critical parts of the course; planning the EOCPU, brain storming ideas and compiling the end-of-course critique (so vital in modern training methodology) in the Senior Sailors' bar after school each day.

Buck,
Received from Stew today
"I survived Cerberus, but as usual drank too much, that is now 2 Senior Sailors Messes at Cerberus I have been pissed in.

You can pass onto Buck that while I was down there I ran into Sonny O'hara he paid of as a WORS and was back after an absence of 18 years, so he might be able to get back in.

Cheers and beers

Buck,

I believe the "Mighty Fightin' Ought Five" is due to return in late Feb early March. We may have to enlist the aid of some of the other 'intrepids' to do the map proving run.

Yeah, Isuppose so. It might be better to leave it until the Fleet Activity Schedule is a bit firmer and we can see who is around. Then we can set a date and seek voluntary assistance.

One volunteer is better than ten pressed men.

Then Micah said “because of this I will mourn and lament. To show my sorrow, I will walk about barefoot and naked. I will howl like a Jackal and wail like an Ostrich”. MICAH 1 V 8

Sounds like the fella for us

Buck,

Just this morning received an email from the good CPOWTR5 of the war canoe 'fightin ought five' who sends new years' greetings to all us longshoremen from sea. He spent New Years' Eve at anchor in Darwin but still managed to kill a few brain cells during the visit.

He has visited the site looking for the photographic evidence of the Balmain Recce Run but has been unable to find them. Did you forget to put a roll of digits in the camera?

Oops me fluffed and put this in the wrong way.

The Keeper of Morals returns to Siddennee on Sattardee and then proceeds on leave until the end of the month. I'll check the FAS and see what February has in store for him. As for me, I'm a tart and can be got at at just about any time. Any Satdee in Feb or early March would suit.

I still have the map, are there any volunteers for a Proving Run?
