Okay..... looks like time for Plan B!

If in fact the Frisco is not reopening, then we may have to trudge a little further afield to The Bells!! :dontknow:

You blokes may have to find a new pub for your Basin Trails. I have heard from a mate that was in Sydney just recently (about a week
or so ago) that Friscos has closed indefinitely. Apparently the new owners figures didn't work out with the renovations he wanted to do.

Thanks for the tip Connie... I just tried to ring The Frisco on the land-line posted on :type: their website and it rang out... :bugger:

I then noticed an email address for 'Adam' so I put together and sent the following: :mail:

"Hi Adam,

I’m part of a group of ex-Navy Apprentices who, for the past 14 years, have met at The Frisco for a friendly get-together on the first
Friday afternoon in November each year, often staying and having a meal thereafter...

Somebody in our group passed on some third hand information that The Frisco is closed until further notice... Is this true...?"

Then, after I sent that off, I noticed a mobile number for 'Adam' so I rang that... :mobile:

I got onto Adam, who informed me that The Frisco is indeed 'closed for renovations' at the moment, but he assured me that it would
be re-opened before the 4th Nov., as they had a huge function booked for The Melbourne Cup :horse: on the preceding Tuesday.

When I asked him if they planned on posting something on their website :evil3: to advise that their closing was only temporary, he told
me that they weren't planning on doing anything to the website, as that was going to be overhauled as well, "...and besides, we had
to shut down at very short notice..." :omg1:

Interesting.... :-k
Especially after The Frisco featured so prominently in an ABC News story about a 5 year old kid working as a runner :run: for a
local drug dealer...!!! :type: Man who used nephew, 5, to sell heroin jailed... I wonder if that had anything too do with it... :dontknow:

"The court heard the 36-year-old used his nephew, (5) who was staying at the flat, to collect $100 and $200 cash payments at the
apartment for balloons of heroin. After receiving the cash the uncle would hand over the heroin at either Frisco Hotel, Woolloomooloo..."

=; This is the news story I saw, it wasn't the ABC, it was Channel 7 and features The Frisco...

:type: Drug dealer used five-year-old boy to collect money for heroin

Thanks Rick, that brought the blood pressure down about 25 points! :ok: :sign5:

As to sudden, urgent repairs needed, I wonder if the bar floor finally gave way and when they investigated they found little white beasties in the woodwork? I know I tripped a few times on the floor - and that's before getting pissed!! :haha: :haha:

................... could have been worse. Could have been on the tumbril, clattering over the cobblestones, among the jeering crowds throwing rotten fruit as it makes its way to the gallows!!!!!! :woohoo: :ok: :smoke:

That photo of the Frisco above must have been specially set up. I've never seen that side street so neat and tidy. There is usually a few bins and empty kegs along the footpath, plus the occasional "calling card" of a pub patron!!! :ok: :woohoo: :smoke:
