Speed was a young Stoker on Sydney in the early 70's. The years have clouded the visual memories but the name still lingers.

Rest your oars.

RIP Speed

VALE: Chief Petty Officer (SN) Danny Terrence Todd - R57908 - DOB: 15/3/44 [-o<

It is with a sad heart that I advise that one of my best mates, Danny Todd, passed away in his sleep either the night of Monday or Tuesday.

Danny had several trips to Vietnam on both Duchess and Sydney.

Danny lived alone in Sydney but had befriended a beautiful lady, Angela and her three children.

His rented flat was full of the love of those four people, in cards, photos, books and letters from his “girls”.

Once the coronial side of things are finished with I will notify the details of his funeral, then fly to Sydney to assist Angela.

Danny and I served together at Cerberus, Harman and Albatross, and on Melbourne and Sydney.

I would be pleased if this email could be given wide distribution through our networks.

Another very fine gentleman has found his final anchorage.

Rob,

You might be able to put something on Cadetnet - Ralph was always very supportive of the NRC even after his time as Local Naval Authority NSW. There would still be some out there who would remember him from those days.

I have many fond memories of Ralph, even though he shanghai'd me into the cadet movement, bribed with wine and fancy lunches. Ralph inspected TS CAMPBELTOWN during my first year in Command and, as a momemto, the unit presented him with a coffee cup emblazoned with the CAMPBELTOWN badge - never putting the CAMPBELL/MACDONALD/Glencoe connection together. No wonder I was destined to be a Lieutenant forever.

Rest on your oars, Ralph, your work is done.

The funeral service for Wal will be held at 2 pm on Tuesday 25 June 2013 at St Matthew's Anglican Church, The Corso, Manly, NSW.
Funeral notices to this effect appeared in the Sydney Morning Herald and the Manly Daily newspapers on 20 June 2013.

VALE - Captain (E) Alex A. Townsend RAN Retd.

Dear Members,

We have been advised that Captain (E) Alex A. Townsend RAN Retd died in Canberra on 8th October 2013. His funeral will be conducted at St Paul's ANZAC Memorial Chapel, Duntroon, at 10.30am on Wednesday 16th October.

Alex Townsend was a former RN artificer who served in WWII and in South East Asia during the Malayan Emergency and Indonesian Confrontation. He was the MEO of the commissioning crew of HMAS Perth, and later involved in planning the HMAS Stirling. base. He was a much respected MEO and an officer with a fun outlook on life; and a great mentor of many young RAN Marine Engineers.

Regards,
Mike.

It is with great sadness that I inform of the passing of CPOP John "Snow" Larkin. John was one of my dearest friends.

He commissioned Vendetta, survived Voyager, then commissioned Hobart. He eventually paid off Diamantina.

Snow then spent many years as an electrical engineer in the merchant marine. Most recently he was the president of the RSL here in Briagolong, where he was responsible for many large ventures, most notably the complete refurbishment of the local cenotaph.

Also a valued member of the Fire brigade and Lions Club. He was awarded Briagolong citizen of the Year in 2012. He was killed today when he toppled from a ladder in high winds.

I was RSL secretary to Snow's presidency for many years.

Words cannot express my grief.

Can you please pass on this message to wherever you think appropriate. We locally will do our utmost to support Anna.

I will provide funeral details to you.

Chris "Blue" Lawless (ex EMWR)
