Back in Canberra on the 17th. Hey Connie, it's been a long time since I travelled on the Hay Plains to Adelaide. (mid - late '70s) I guess it is no different these days?  Hours and hours of nothing. If you drove it at night, you could see the lights of the cars coming the other way for what seemed like hours before you actually passed them.

 My most vivid memory of crossing the Hay Plains to Adelaide  was during a MOUSE  PLAGUE...!!! In the early 70's I was going out with a farmer's daughter  They had a mouse plague (in Sth Qld) at the time. Driving down the track from the road to the farmhouse was a similar experience with this moving brown carpet of rodents.  Enough to make you feel seasick

Hi all, The wife and I are  to WA tonight for a couple of weeks to sample some wines around Margaret River and see some whales down off Albany. Catching the Indian Pacific back to Sydney, which will be a bit different from 1973 when I left Leeuwin.
