It's with great sadness that, on behalf of Gaye and his family, of the passing of Marco Cerlenizza (Mardicos as he was known) who elected for VAD on Tuesday 29SEP26 due to a lengthy run in with cancer. He endured many therapies over an extended period but pain was the final arbiter of his decision. I served with Mardicos on the three DDGs as a Gunbuster with his last as DWEEO on HOBART. His last link with Pussers was as instructor of Mk41 VLS during the ANZAC ship build at the LOPAC in Williamstown, VIC. He did many things post this and eventually qualified as senior engineer on large LNG ships but his illness prevented him from taking on a ship in his own right. Last week Ron Nugent and I went to see him on the Sunshine Coast for morning tea and linked in Greg Martin by WhatsApp. Mark was an ETW in the Jan 74 Muppet intake and changed over as a PO to WEEO.

Although I never served with Marco, it's still sad at the loss of someone still at his career peak.

My condolences to his wife, family and friends.

RIP Marco, fair winds and following seas.
