I received this email today

Hi All,

I heard today that ex-Chief Chippy Bob Carpenter passed away in the last few days. I understand that he was living on his own in the Mount Barker region and became ill suddenly, requiring him to be taken to the Mount Barker Hospital where they were unable to treat his condition and immediately sent him to Albany Hospital where he passed away.

Nigel

Always liked Bob (15th MOBI Intake of July '63); I believe he was living something of a "hermit's" life in Mt. Barker for some years, circumstances I fear quite a number of our fellow shipmates could fall into... VALE and fair seas Bob... [-o<

This from Bill Krause...

Hello All,

It is with regret that we advise of the passing of another fellow shipmate.

Bob" lived in Mt Barker WA and recently took ill and was rushed to the Albany Regional Hospital but unfortunately to no avail. It is understood that he cast of all lines over the last weekend. He is survived by his mother and five siblings.

A service to celebrate his life will be held at the Mt. Barker RSL, 8 Booth Street Mt. Barker WA on Friday the 10th of October at 1400 (2pm).

Those who wish to may contact Terri (sibling) on 0414 351 589 or Bethany Funeral Home, Albany on 08 9841 7177.

May you have fair winds and calm seas where ever you may sail "Bob".

Peter Flockhart.

Sad to hear of Bob's passing. I shared many a run ashore and beer with Bob over the years.

A fair wind and a following seas Bob.

Cheers,
Stretch
