Vale COMMANDER JACK CLOUGH AM RAN (RTD)
I am sorry to have to pass on yet more sad news.
Many will remember Jack Clough from Navy Rugby, the ME School at CERBERUS, the carrier MELBOURNE and the Escort YARRA just to mention a few. Jack paid off some 30 years ago but was a well known figure in the Fleet in his day, many of you will have known him. After the Navy Jack and Barbara lived in the family home in Frankston and stayed there until 18 months ago when it was necessary for Jack to enter a Nursing Home. Jack passed to the Great Engine Room in the Sky early this morning.
Our thoughts are with Barbara and Jack’s extended family at this time. Farewell to a fine friend.
Yours aye
Bob Mummery
P.S. For John Lennon: Jack, many of the early MOBIs would have known Jack Clough. Could you please pass the message on to your MOBI list.
Bob Mummery

Jack and Garry (both good blokes) can help each other sign onboard.

I met Commander Clough in 1981. I had a MVA and was posted to Cerberus in the tech support section of the Engineering centre. My role was to ensure the Commander got his coffee. Three heaped teaspoons, black no sugar in a standard cup. (looked more like tar or ffo). For an officer of his statue he always spoke to me in a friendly manner. He regularly checked on my progress and I will never forget his support.
Although my contact with this man was brief, it was a privilege to have met him.

An often misused phrase "one of natures gentleman" but in Jack's case it was absolutely true.
Loved his rugby and certainly looked after his troops.
Will be sadly missed.

Have been away and was saddened to read of the passing of a fine man on my return. If memory serves me correctly, I shipped out with Jack in both HMAS Australia and HMAS Sydney in the early fifties. Having come through the ranks he was a man of integrity and honour, and it was a pleasure to keep watches under him.
