Great question Julia; simplest way it to open TWO Browsers...
Once the 'Chatroom' link has opened, hit the browser botton again and log in to www.RAN-SkilledHands.org again on the second browser...
Then you can alternate between the two...!!!
Another way is, once you've logged into the 'Chatroom', 'right click' on the dark section and create a shortcut to your desktop, (an 'icon' with three ' vertically challenged' people appears on your desktop,) that way (arguably,) you could actually log into the 'Chatroom' before, or even without logging onto the Forum...!
(...and I happen to know you haven't been a 'blonde' all THAT long, Jules...!
Tricky

G'day Rick and Ned. A couple of questions if I can
1. How is this site being funded?
2. Do you require any contribution?
Supplementary question.
Where can you find the avatars that a few of the members are using?

Good questions Jim...
Firstly, the website is solely funded by Ned and I, both of us 13th MOBI Intake Chippies, as our way of recognising the 13,000 graduates that passed through HMAS Nirimba (RANATE) as we did...
Charles, our consultant website 'guru' is a close friend of Ned's, (and as he's been able to bring a vision I've long nurtured to reality, he's rapidly becoming a close friend of MINE...!) has generously discounted his normally outrageous fees (just kiiding, Charles,) enabling a couple of arguably 'creative' but not fully 'Internet savvy' Chippies, to bring this much needed forum together for you..! (For a couple of 'two finger typists' Ned and I are learning fast...!)
Sharing the costs, firstly in just hosting the website, but mainly incurred when we're developing new enhancements, such as the 'CHATROOM', and those in the pipeline, such as 'THE PHOTO GALLERY', due for launch this week, 'THE NON-MEMBERS GUEST BOOK' due out next week, and of course, the development that we've already done so far, has enabled us to get it to this stage...!
Whilst we are not seeking donations Jim, we may offset the costs further down the track by offering all Members the opportunity of having their very own e-mail address such as Rick@RAN-SkilledHands.org for the princely sum of $10.00 per year, offering not only a secure e-mail service, but also a way of proudly displaying their roots, whilst protecting Members' privacy (by masking their personal e-mail address)...! We're already geared up for it, and that way, we'll be able to continue to provide you with the furum and all it's other tricky bit, long into the future...!
So far I've left Ned to 'stand at the brow' to 'Welcome' you all onboard, and as I understand it, he's doing a great job of it... I've been concentrating on the 'creative bits', designing 'banners, muliple versions of the animated 'MOBI' logo for release into the Avatar Gallery shortly, while Charles is keeping an eye on the 'back-end' to make sure it all runs smoothly...
We'll slowly be building up The Avatar Gallery, but rather than wait for it, Members are invited to check out the WWW for personalised avatars of their own, our use their favourite photo of themselves, which they can then uplift from their own PC's, as many have already done ...(Try 'Google' on the 'net, select 'images' and type in 'animated.gif'..)
I've also bought 'Ulead's GIF Animator 5' which enables me to create multi-image avatars... and before you ask, I really can't do any outside of what I've already offered to do, however, there are a few others on our website here who are expert on them... but out of courtesy, I'll let them come forward if they choose to volunteer their talents, as its an involved process... (the little MOBI took up most of my time for about a week, 'Aussifying' the little sailor, about two hours...! Watch for a PO, CPO, WO, LT, LT.CDR, CDR and a CAPT. eventually hitting The Avatar Gallery..!)
Hope that lengthy epistle adequately answers your question Jim, and thanks for posting it the Forum so I could answer it fully, as others were no doubt also curious about our motives and support... We'd like to thank you for yours...!!!

Gif Animations,,,GIF files.
Will gladly help anyone who wants a GIF Avatar,
all you'll need to do is send me 2-3 small photos of perhaps, yourself, your mutt, motorbike,,,and then maybe your missus,,,or hubbie ofcourse.
But if your a gigolo like me, don't bother sending them all in.
(WACK, just copped it in the back of the scone from the missus).
Feel free to send to my email address,
pebholst@hotmail.com
and shall send back a GIF file like the one I've got, then just put it in a folder on your Hdrive, go into 'Profile' browse and upload.
Footnote: Berky you're a gem... I hope you don't get too swamped...! I'm so flat-chat creating the animated.gifs for the Photo Gallery I haven't even had a chance to update Ned's and mine...! Hippy Chippy - WEBMASTER

Hippy and Ned, I hope you don't mind me chucking my 2 bobs worth in here?
Julia, at the front page of this site (or any link for that matter) if you right click and click "open in new window" the link will open in a new browser window leaving the original site open.
Then again if our illustrious webmasters add target="_blank" to the a href tag for the chat link it will open in another window.
Chris I'm not sure i understand your question on favourites.

Thanks Dags,
I had already posted that info under Chatroom, in the Announcements from the Administrators.
However, with your IT background, we appreciate any suggestions you may have.
Cheers. Ned.
