Regarding the Commissioning of HMAS Brisbane (III) at FBE on (my birthday,) 27th October, read the e-mails below from the bottom one up... :upy:

Could you please send this email out to all and sundry to seek contact details for as many of the December 1967 commissioning crew as possible in order to seek
expressions of interest for attendance at the ceremony –

Thanks very much for your email.

At this stage the details for the commissioning are being finalised and so I am unable to provide specific information, other than confirming it will be in Sydney on
27 October.

If you are able to provide me a list of the Brisbane II Plank Owners, with email addresses if possible, we will include them in our Brief for CN’s consideration – at this
stage I cannot advise how many invites will be offered to previous crew members and would therefore appreciate your assistance in prioritising the list of names (ie,
those who commissioned or decommissioned Brisbane II, key position holders, etc).

Once I get that list from you and get CN’s approval of the final guest list, I will be able to confirm numbers and advise of invites.

Once confirmed all invitees will receive detailed information for the event.

Good morning Jeff, thanks for your email. Admiral Barrett did indeed appraise me of the interest of BRISBANE II Plank Owners attending the upcoming commissioning
of BRISBANE III on Saturday 27 October. Having served in BRISBANE II in 1987/88, I too am looking forward to the commissioning of BRISBANE III.

I have already tasked the Navy Events Team to scope options for me to invite BRISBANE II Plank Owners to the commissioning of BRISBANE III.

The two aspects that I would appreciate your assistance with is understanding the number and details of the BRISBANE II Plank Owners who may be able to attend the
commissioning of BRISBANE III; and if I need to limit the number of attendees, how we would prioritise which of the BRISBANE II Plank Owners might be invited.

Could I ask you to liaise with CMDR Natasha Burney on this two aspects in order to allow me to get the best possible outcome for all people attending the BRISBANE III
commissioning.

Seen a post on FB today from Andrew Rourke, who was the last XO of DDG 41. He had made some phones calls re the commissioning and was told that all previous COs would get an invite. He got the cold shoulder.

Sadly I didn't get to serve on her till '81 so won't get an invite to the party :crybaby1:

even so, I have fond memories of the NWIO and the port visits such as Mombasa, Trincomalee, the Syechelles and other delightful hot spots. Still have the cruise book from that trip as well :yea:

I searched but couldn't find the story on the Channel 7 website,
I'll keep looking and if I find it, I'll post a direct URL link to the story which I'm sure will be much better quality... :finga:
