HRH Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, a.k.a. to us nautical ....................... types as Lord High Admiral of the Navy (gifted to him by HRH QEII, ....................... ten years ago, to celebrate his 90th birthday,) has shuffled off this ....................... mortal coil, just 2 months shy of his 100th birthday, ...................... ...so no centenary pissup... ........................................ ...no telegram from the Queen... ..................................... I had a soft spot for Phil, pretty much your regular sailor actually...

Yep, I also had a soft spot for The Duke. Loved his wicked sense of humour. RIP Philip, may you have have fair winds and following seas.

My Father-in-Law was in the RN and served as a LS Flag Waver.He served with Prince Philip at sea in either HMS KG V or HMS Kempenfeldt,I cannot remember which one. Anyway he was hanging around the Bridge when Prince Philip was OOW and was asked what was he up to.Eventually Prince Philip told him to " off my Bridge" RIP Prince Philip

RIP Philip, may you have have fair winds and following seas. Not only his sense of humour, but low tolerance to fools, and given his many so-called 'gaffs', I suspect he held similar thoughts on 'political correctness' as the rest of us do...
