Sadly I must advise of the passing of Gerry Patman, former CERA and a member of the 1st intake of MOBIs.
Gerry and I had a bit of a relationship that started with our younger brothers being in the same Boy Scouts Troop, so I knew of Gerry and he of me before I was accepted into the 8th intake. We saw a little of each other at NIRIMBA and I ran into him when he was a CERA and, later, when he was working as a field engineer for Kailis Fisheries managing an engine change for one of the Kailis boats in Learmonth. I was then stationed nearby at the Naval Communication Station HAROLD E HOLT in Exmouth Western Australia.
Since retirement Gerry and I met on the odd occasion when there was the odd MOBI, Mechanician & Direct Entry Tradesmen functions held here in WA.
I, as yet, have no funeral details for Gerry. Will onforward them when received.
Gerry will be very much missed by family and friends.
Yours aye
Bob Mummery
Gerry's Vietnam service consisted of 1 x Vung Tau Trip in HMAS Boonaroo in 1967.
Sad for the loss one of our pioneers. Condolences to the family and friends.
