Sad to report that R43478 Bernard “Bernie” Copal died yesterday afternoon, 10 December.

Bernie joined the RAN in July 1967 in the 23rd intake, after do8ng the common NAA training in Term 1 he was selected to train as a Aircraft Artificer. Bernie didn’t finish his apprenticeship being discharged in October 1969.
He sort of disappeared but we located him in time to attend our 50th reunion cruise in July 2017.
Bernie was a keen Carlton supporter, but couldn’t quite come to terms with the AFLW competition. We caught up a couple of times after the reunion when my daughter was working as the head trainer for the Carlton reserves team.

RIP Bernie from your term mates.
