I'm finally on the verge of changing from an Apple iMac to a windows desktop. Have ordered the Lenovo all-in-one unit with 27" screen instead of the 24" iMac (largest available) and will be getting the tech geeks at Hardly Normal to do the changeover. The new item has 4 times the ram and twice the SSD memory (1 tb).
Anyone else done this, and if so what hurdles can be encountered? They'll be loading on my office 365 and norton anti everything plus what's on the hard drive. I have almost zero apps in use so they won't be a drama.

I've got a mate trying get a Ships Crest made, but struggling to find a manufacturer. I know they are few and far between these days.
I've found a couple on line, but one, "Presntos" is snowed under and holding orders for the time being. Another is "Nautical Style", but I don't think they do One-offs.
Do any of you Chippies know any other manufacturers?

Sometime ago I attempted to get a loan of one of the former Chippies Shop moulds from HMAS Nirimba (held at Spectacle Island) but the process was onerous and not entirely guaranteed of success (pissed off really, as I had gone to some effort to ensure they were not thrown out - for this reason). I seem to remember that the Presentos mob (albeit some years ago) had issues with supply due to the ill health of one of the principals. Could an existing plaque be sourced to make a mould? What ship?

None at all nowadays. And the horrendous amount of time it would take to make up a crest from scratch, the use it as a plug to lay up a mould from it, then cast the new crest, and then paint it................! You're looking at around 2 weeks work @ at least $120 per hour. And then of course there's the side effects of working with that itchy, scratchy, sticky I was approached on line to do this a couple of years back, having produced originals & moulds for Naval Association crests in Townsville & Darwin. Never again. I suggest he continue to scan ebay, Gumtree, etc for it, plus advertise in all the many RAN facebook pages.

Thanks CJ & Brian. From what read, Presentos sounds like it is more of a cottage industry setup and can't keep with orders these days.
