Sully, I had a similar problem with my local Telstra shop. I wanted to transfer my old data/contacts etc to my new phone. The so called expert techo, spent 15 minutes and said, "I can't do it, they have different Bluetooth and are not compatible and I will need to redo all my contacts etc yourself".
I went home and through settings, I found that my old phone allowed me to "export" my old data onto an SD card and then "import" onto my new phone. Problem solved and it only took 5 minutes, for an old fart!
Apparently, you can download an "app" that will do the same, depending on the brand of phone.

Exactly what I did not that long ago BC. The Telstra tech gave me the heads up about it.

Yep! By far the easiest solution, which I used on my last couple of "upgrades".

I had a Samsung 9 and bought a Samsung 24 , allowed me to place both side by side and had a app that just transferred all my data fron one tio the other, no problems.

My phone just underwent an update - with all the increased crap it thinks I need to have I really wish there was a "@#$% off" button to push.

Just think as we sit here with the warragamba dam overflowing the desalination plant is pumping thousands of litres of fresh ? water into the system at a cost of millions of dollars.

We have one of them deslination white elephants which cost $1.8 billion to build and $40 million to run on standby! Imagine the jobs created for a pipeline to be built from Qld / NSW to SA It would be cheaper than an Ark

Waffle:
Amazing how much more information is becoming available through internet searches. I saw a thread on someone trying to find out more information on his wifes grandfathers death in WWII (accident involving a DeHavilland Mosquito aircraft). I did a quick search on the aircraft ID and it bought up a site called "Aviation Safety Network" (this offered a list of all DeHavilland Mosquito losses).
Going through it I came across my Dads Squadron Commanders incident and that of my Mums first cousin (Jack Dawes). I checked my Dads logbook and realised that the day that Mums first cousin (Jack Dawes) was shot down over Berlin on night mission (Navigator/Observer) my Dad (Navigator/Observer) was actually on flight operations in Burma (daytime).
Of the two incidents both the pilots and Navigator/Observers in the two Mosquitoes had completed their flight tours and did not need to be flying. With regard to Jack, him and his pilot were the only loss (involving 60 Mosquitoes) on the mission and they were shot down by a ME 262 jet.
