Sad news for Bill's family and friends, particularly for MOBIs who may have served with him.

I didn't know Bill as a MOBI but we were serving in HMAS WATERHEN together in the mid to late 1980s. Bill was a no nonsense man, easy to get along with and well respected by the WATERHEN ship's company where he was the Executive Officer.

RIP Bill
Bob Mummery

Morning all.

Bob Eames has passed on the following sad news.

Take care of yourselves.

All the best

Bob writes:

It is with deep sadness we advise that LCDR William (Bill) Philp crossed the Bar on 11 August 2025. Bill passed away at home in Burpengary following some weeks of complications with his ongoing battle with lymphoma.

The service to farewell Bill will be held Tuesday 19th August at St Eugene Catholic Church commencing 11.00am. The link to the Holy Cross Funeral website is https://holycrossfunerals.com.au/projec ... am-robert/ (note website currently states service commences at 1130 - this will be amended shortly).

The address is: St Eugene Catholic Church, 72A Dunbeath Drive, Burpengary Qld 605.

Following the service, at 1.30pm there will be a short ceremony at the graveside at Pinnaroo Lawn Cemetery. This will be followed by a reception at 2.00pm at the Pinnaroo Cemetery Tea Gardens (near the entrance).

The address is: Pinnaroo Lawn Cemetery and Crematorium, 285 Graham Rd, Bridgeman Downs Qld 4035.

RIP Bill - fair winds and following seas. Sincere condolences to his wife Stephanie.

Bill's Vietnam service consisted of:

1 x Escort Trip to Vung Tau in HMAS Torrens in 1972.

RIP Bill
