Earlier today the Vanuatu nation drove another of it's Australian-provided patrol boats up onto a reef, and it remains there.

The TAKUARE (Tak-oo-aray) was being used by a bunch of politicians to visit an island for a ceremony. Not patrolling for defence measures.....

By my count, this is the fourth Pacific patrol boat to be reefed and destroyed.

Just waiting for the Australian Defence Force (or a contracted agency) to go and pick it up?

No worries, China has just supplied seven patrol boats.....https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rL_exdtT4ns

Another article offers it in a different light (previously repaired and recently returned):
https://vbtc.vu/rvs-takuare-wreck-durin ... cial-trip/

Patrol boat RVS Takuare run aground on a reef off Tomali Village, South Epi last night.

The incident happened around 9pm only a few hours after the Internal Affairs Minister and his delegation disembarked around 5:30pm.

While the cause of the incident is still unknown, Director General of Internal Affairs, Leith Veremaito, told VBTC News that a tugboat and the RVS Sokomanu are on their way to assist.

The Australian funded Guardian Glass Patrol boat returned to Vanuatu March this year after extensive repairs and internal refit following catastrophic damage sustained during Cyclone Kevin in 2023.

RVS Takuare is on a week-long tour where the Minster Andrew Napuat is expected to officiate the launching of the Yarsu Area Council new Office building at Tomali before traveling up North to Malampa Province.

Yep, the Chinese 'Patrol' boats will of course be used for serious patrol work like ferrying local chiefs (the spear carrying kind, not the NCO version) from hither to yon and back, defence parties and other such tasks.

Also in the future, look for several of the border force boats to be 'removed to reserve' while they decide whether to replace or repair them after their exhaustive service of around 3 years.....

Three years? Even the Armidales lasted longer than that (not by much however).
