Some of the evidence in the film would indicate the early 60's, with the EH & HR Holdens, early series Land Rover and .303 rifles. But, my understanding was, the first of the PNG trainees, who were all RAN personnel, joined Nirimba in January 1968. They joined as part of our 3rd term and trained as ERA's.
They were John Aidie, Ray Heni, Mark Kuri and Sam Linga.
I couldn't get any clear name to ID an intake period, but I would estimate 69 for the Nirimba section.

Great find, Brian, brought back many fond memories, I even recognised most of the faces using the machinery in the Tarangau Chippy Shop, which brought up another thought, amongst those early PNG Apprentices(not all of whom were ERAs,) would have been Chippy Eddie Kong, who did his first year (basics) with us at Tarangau, then completed his apprenticeship at Nirimba...
